Can you actually color your hair at home WITH salon results?
I only single process to cover the "sparkles"
I hate having to go every 6 weeks though.
Are there any GOOD options for at home?

i only color at home. As someone who's mom is a hairdresser, she always did my hair at home growing up. Now I use Loreal Preference, works fine. As long as your applying correctly. I used to get each piece separate and mix it at home, like they do in the salon. I got fed up and dont see a diff at this point.

I only color at home. I can't justify the cost and time to go to a salon all the time.
I also try to keep the color as natural as possible to my own.

Any brands?
I just feel like my hair is growing quicker & more grey are making it more noticeable.... so 6 weeks is a stretch. $100 a month I hate (that's not including a cut, just blowout after)

I'm curious to know this as well. I heard John Frieda is good from a bunch of girls.

When I do it at home I use the mousse colors. I feel that it is easier to apply than the liquid.

Loreal Preference and Loreal Excellence both work great. They cover all my grays and last 2 months.

Re: Can you actually color your hair at home WITH salon results?
Yes you can get the same color but it won't last as long IMHO. I've tried the drug store brands and after 4 weeks, my hair turns brassy and the color fades. At the salon, I notice my color lasts longer (up to 6 weeks) with miminal fading/brassiness. Also, I did not like using chemicals on my hair every 3-4 weeks vs salon visits that were as much as 6-8 weeks apart. My natural hair is dark brown/black and I have been dyeing it light brown/auburn since 2003.

I definitely don't find my salon color fades at all, but I need to cover them greys by around 6-8 weeks. I guess that's normal, & just wish their was an easier way.

I ONLY color at home, I cannot spend $100 on something I can easily do myself for $8. I have always had really good luck with all the Clairol and Loreal colors.

Re: Can you actually color your hair at home WITH salon results?
I did my hair at home for a few years but I used professional color that I got from Classic Beauty Supply. The main difference is that at a salon they will do a better job applying it. They know when you need to do your whole head as opposed to just your roots and if they are doing just roots they will not get as much color on areas that are not intended. I would not do any sort of home hi-lighting, only single process. I started going to the salon again for color.
