The man tried a few times to teach me, he got very red as I was "grinding the freaking gears" So since then I dont. If you needed to get to the hospital and a stick was all you had I'd get you there.

Re: Can you drive stick?

I do. I live in England so I drive on the right hand side. Its super easy once you get out there driving. Its actually much more satisfying (imo) than driving a manual as you really have to think about the road conditions, your speed, and what you might encounter around the corner. When I come home to NY and drive my mothers automatic, it feels a bit like driving in a coma!!! I probably won't go back to an automatic again.

eta...I should say that last week I drove home in lots of icky traffic and my left foot was KILLING me from pressing the clutch up and down for about an hour and a half...I missed my automatic then.

Re: Can you drive stick?

Yup, sure can. when I got my license at 16, the car I was driving got into an accident and the only other car I could drive was dad's 3rd car, which was stick. So I learned. So glad I did!! Chat Icon

Re: Can you drive stick?

I can drive stick with a left or right side driver. I learned on a new car I bought when I was 18. It was abit scary buying a car not knowing if I would ever be able to drive it but after a few hours I was ready for the road.

Re: Can you drive stick?

All my cars have been stick shifts up until now - my minivan.

It is difficult at first, but once you get it - it is like riding a bike - you never forget how.

I feel like I am lazy in my minivan, with no shifting to do ... Chat Icon

Re: Can you drive stick?

Sure do and I drive it everyday. I love it. just not in traffic. It's so wierd driving an automatic. First instinct is to put my foot on the cluth lol

When I bought my car the guy at the dealer asked me if I wanted him to pull it up for me incase I wasn't too sure how to drive it. I looked at him and said, I'm here by myself, how do you think I'm going to get home???? I know how to drive... lol

He stared to say.. "Well women usually"... and never finished. I could only imagine what was going to fly out of his mouth!!!!

Re: Can you drive stick?

I can make do if needed. In college my favorite saying while trying to learn was, "it's easier to ride the stick than it is to drive the stick" Chat Icon

I can...my first car was stick. My aunt gave it to me so it was either learn to drive it or don't get a car.
