Can you ovulate without getting a period?
Just curious? For instance i know some girls go 2-3 months without AF..would they still have a chance of ovulation in month 2 or 3?
Getting different answers on internet...does anyone know for sure?

I would think that if you went 2-3 months without AF you would only O once during that time if at all.

you would only O right before the next AF (unless you got a BFP). so if you had a 60 day cycle you would likely have Oed around CD46 or so. you wouldn't O at like CD23 and have a 60 day cycle, nor would you O multiple times during the cycle.
the only exception to that is if you are nursing. while nursing, (or possible but unlikely if you have abnormal levels of prolactin,the breastmilk hormone), then you CAN ovulate without having a period. my friend has her third child to thank for that!!

hmm..i guess i won't even "try" until i get AF then.
Weird thing is i know when i ovulated (due to my smiley) and its been three weeks later with still no AF. Just had some spotting 6 days after Ovulation. Unless of course that spotting was my period..but then that makes no sense because that means my LP was only 6 days..I hate trying to figure this out!!!

Just because you got the smiley you may not have O'd.....did you temp?

no, i didn't temp. Wishful thinking that the three days of spotting was actually AF.

Have you been to a dr? I was going through this when I would get AFd every other month. I kept having spotting which I mistaked it for AF. But when it came again in 2 weeks I knew something was up. I currently went through labs to check things out and sonos. So far everything came back fine. I would suggest going to see your Dr to talk about your cycles and maybe see an RE. This is what I plan to do now!

thanks...i have a call into my obgyn from MONDAY..i called again yesterday and they told me she has my message and will call me when she is done with patients..and i'm still waiting.......
This is the first time this has ever happened to me...I'm now seriously wondering if the three day spotting episode may have been a super light AF. It came excatly on CD28..but the only reason that wouldn't make sense is because i got my smiley only 6 days earlier. This is only the 2nd month after D&C, so not sure if i'm just a little messed up from that..no idea at this point.
Thank god i have this site to vent on!!!

I highly doubt that was AF- the doctor wouldnt consider it if its not a full flow. Since you didnt temp, its possible that you didnt ovulate and your cycle is still screwy from your d&c. I hope that an RE can get to the bottom of it! The sooner you go, the sooner they can check your hormones to confirm it.
