I agree - but the commute to the station could be a lot less depending on where the house is.
Greenlawn is a good location too - much more affordable than CSH too - you can easily drive to the Huntington station in 5 minutes and it's Harborfields schools

Not sure about the zoning. But I know quite a few people that have children in South Huntington schools, and rave about the district.

Huntington Station I believe is a different district, S. Huntington is huge though, I am in the S. Huntington, district #13, friends of mine live in Melville and thier kids go to S. Huntington as well.

I posted about this earlier. The South Huntington District goes as far north as 12th Street and as far east as Park Avenue and as far west as Round Swamp Road and as far south as Old Country Road (Melville) The district is huge

Re: Can you recommend a suffolk town...
IMO the best commute in suffolk by train is either on teh Babylon line (really Lindenhurst or babylon)
Or Ronkonkoma Line. Ronkonkoma line is nice because you can go further east, be in Sachem SD and Ronkonkoma has an express train.
The Huntington line is fine but anything east of huntington the trains arent as regular after a certain time. (I think like after 7pm its every hour) and you often have to change. My BILs live in Greenlawn and Northport and travel to the Huntington station every day (15-20 minutes) to take the train from Huntington

Re: Can you recommend a suffolk town...
I also think that the town of Greenlawn, with Harborfields SD, fits what you're looking for. You can drive to the Huntington Train Station and get an express train to the City and Harborfields is an excellent district.

Only if you're a villiage resident and pay the villiage taxes is it free. Otherwise, it's about $3 a day to park.
