We are giving DS solids 2x per day (once in the morning and once in the afternoon). He is taking solids fine but his milk intake has dropped. I feel like we are doing something wrong. I think I have read on here that their babies drink the same amount but just eat extra solids.

DS did the same initially, but is now back up to his regular # of oz. Your DS might be teething too.

DS is definitely teething.

Does milk intake drop while teething?

He seems to get distracted easily. Not sure if he is just not hungry or not. He tends to bite down on the nipple and stop drinking.

Yes, I have read that they will eat less when teething, and this definitely sounds like his teeth are bothering him!

He also bites down when I am breastfeeding. Then I say, "ouch!" and he starts laughing.

I'm so glad that this is normal. I was getting worried. DS had some health problems in the beginning and we are constantly watching how he eats.

DS started solids at 6 months. By 7 months, he dropped down to nursing/bottles 4 times per day. I obviously don't know how much he takes when nursing, but his bottle intake dropped for a bit and later went back to normal.

DS started solids at 3 1/2 months (was just cereal once a day) and 4 months was drinking the same amount of bottles then and was fed solids twice a day (cereal and fruit)- now at 5 months ped wants us to up it to three times and include veggies we will see if he drops a few of the bottles.

I know he sometimes doesn't drink the full 8 oz that's the only difference I have seen.
