Can you take an additional vitamin tablet on top of your daily prenatal vitamins?
I'm taking CVS store brand prenatal vitamins and want to take an additional Vitamin D3 tablet.
The prenatal Vitamin d is Cholecalciterol vitamin d with 400 I.U per tablet
I alsow want to take Vitamin D3 (NatureMade brand) with 1000 I.U per tablet.
Could this be too much of this particular vitamin?

Interesting that you asked this. My doctor told me that he wanted me to add Vitamin D to my prenatal. He didn't tell me how much, but I am going to ask the pharmacist when I go tonight.

Also ask what kind there's the vitam d3 which promots bone and breast health (I'm guessing that one is the one your dr wants you to take) and the other is Vitamin D chl.......can't spell it anymore lol.

also called my dr and my pharmacist and they both said ok just seems like a lot of I.U's doesn't it???

I take extra B12 because I have a B12 deficiency. Check with your OB/GYN or nurse.

I take extra calcium and iron. Some vitamins don't get absorbed if you take too much at once (like calcium) and some can make you sick if you take too much (like iron). So, as long as you get the ok from your doc and/or pharmacist, it shouldn't be an issue.

I would just ok it with the doc first. I'm taking iron suppliments but she had recommended them to me.

If you take to much you'll prob. just excrete it. I would take them like 8-12 hours apart.
