Honestly, the rugs in your home can cause problems as does paint and nearly every cleaner. It is not easy to go "green" for everything but there are groups that can teach you how. I have considered it but at the same time I don't buy only organic foods to eat either.

It's not easy. I am just switching home cleaning products, baby products and products for DH & I as far as shampoo, etc.

on that list though the baby wash comes up as OK.

I seriously wonder though how we all survived childhood and are now standing here without cancerous growths on us after all the johnson & johnson products that were used on us as well as (gasp) powder with TALC in it.

Have any of you clicked to see what it was exactly that was harmful in the different products. Yes, a lot of them are chemical names---but it also listed aloe vera as being harmful!

Thanks for the info. I use both the J&J wash and the Herbal Essences. I am discarding them right away.

We have the Grins and Giggles also. Is that one ok?

So who conducted this research? Do they have anything to do with profiting from Organic products?

To be honest, I don't know how much I believe all of these supposed "findings". How much of these studies are conducted by alternative products that want more exposure?
Listen...we are all here to tell the tale of how our moms smoke, drank, and ate non organinc (Chat Icon ) food when they were pregnant with us.
Though smoking and drinking (excessively) while pregnant IS of course dangerous and I would never do it nor condone it, some of the things they scare us mommies with these days are ridiculous.
Listen...they didn't even have CAR SEATS when I was a baby. I just kinda rolled around the back of my father's Volkswagon!Chat Icon
I am not going to throw away my son's bubble bath because of this supposed study. That's a bit ridiculous. But hey, that's just me.

Yes we didn't have all these organic products when we were younger or our parents were younger and look at how many of us have been extremely ill.Chat Icon

I think my babies health is more important to me then some lotion or body wash. So if a study says it is bad for my baby or my family I will stop using it regardless of who is doing the study.

Who's been extremely ill???Chat Icon I hear more about children TODAY having disabilities, and physical limitations than I EVER did growing up!!! We are set up by the media ESPECIALLY to become alarmists with our children. It's one thing to be careful and smart and educated and aware, its another thing to over analyze and obsess about everything that goes on in and around our children.
Ya know...there's a TON of pollution we should be worried about as well. But short of living in a bubble, life goes on.

You hear more about physical limitations & disabilites because it is more talked about then it used to be. It used to be taboo to talk about it.

And Cancer and other life threatening illnesses are more now then ever.

Just to prove a point, EVERYTHING you breathe and eat has carcinogens in it. You can read a MILLION studies and find 2 MILLION "dangerous" foods and products. The media LOVES to prey on mommies cause they KNOW we will go out and buy the supposed Great for you organic foods and throw away all the "bad" products. Ya know what...NOTHING is 100% good for you.

Cancerous foods

I mean really...tomorrow someone could turn out a study that says organic food contains numerous insect feces known to be dangerous to your health...then what would people buy?

This is reminiscent of the carseat research that turned out to be crap

I soooo agree with this! I was actually telling 04bride that I had a hard time believing this. I didnt even hear anything on the news about it. And I told my mom earlier...who put this study out?? Is it people who want us to buy the organic products?? I appreciate this being posted just so we can make a decision as to what we want to do but I think I am going to stick with what I have been using.
