Can't stand people and their opinions!!!

So Im sending my son to Tutor Time day care. It is literally 5 mins from my doorstep. My husband and I have researched and discussed and decided that for us.. we loved the "school" atmosphere, the interaction with other people and children and the structure of a day care instead of an "in home care" or at someone elses home with other children. Personal preference for us.

My SIL sends her kids to a family friend that watches children. She knows Im already enrolled in Tutor time.. She calls me at 8:30 this morning
just "wondering" if everything was set for day care b/c she was talking to the family friend and both wondered why I wasn't sending my son there!!! then proceeds to tell me all the WONDERFUL reasons I should send him there!!

Really at 38 weeks pregnant.. you really want to go there with me!!!

daycare opinions are the ones I still can't stand to hear. It is very upsetting to have to listen to people and constantly defend your decisions!

Opinions are like a** holes. Everyone has one.

I repeat this in my head on a daily basis with all the opinions and "advice" I get from people.

Side note: I was a director for Tutor Time, and worked for the company for over 7 years..which one? You can FM if you don't want to post-but you've made a wonderful decision!

In terms of the friend...you should tell her all the wonderful reasons you have for sending your little guy to Tutor Time, and that she should think about going there..that will throw her off..lol!

let me tell you - i loved TT when i went to go visit but i had reservations about Luca being in a setting like that. he was used to being at home.

and you know what? after 2 weeks of adjustment he LOVES it there. i adore the classroom setting and the fact that he gets to see his favorite teachers every day, and new/different ones when they fill in. there's also a lot more accountability at a center like that, which makes me more comfortable.

too bad you don't work closer - our LOs would be at the same center

I hate when people think they're "helping" and theyre really just being rude and annoying, especially dealing with pregnant women. We arent in the mood to hear your great ideas.

And about Tutor Time, I used to work in the Amityville location. I was mostly with the 18-24mos old but we were very close to the infant room and those babies are treated so nicely and constantly given attention. Dont second guess your choice, especially since youre already set with it. Your baby will definately be well taken care of there! And when he gets older they have curriculums (sp?), even in the 18mos room.

defending where you are sending your baby for child care is the one thing that you should not have to do. the decision is you and DH's to make. She needs to butt out!

UGH....i hate it when people give there opinions on things like that. You've obviously thought it through and have your reasons...why not just respect your decision and keep their mouth shut.

My SIL kinda did that to me last week. I had car trouble so I had to call her for a ride to the OB. She asked what we were going to do for daycare and I told her. She was like "Oh I just don't trust daycares. I've heard so many bad things about them. I wouldn't put my baby in one." To which my answer was "Millions of women put their babies in daycare,at least all women I've worked with that have returned to work put their babies in daycare, that's just how it goes. Most of what you hear about the bad ones are few and far inbetween, if not it wouldn't be an option for parents. Plus you don't just put your baby in any daycare you research the places and get recco's."

She shut up after that. This was also coming from my SIL that has two boys that are absolute terrors. One of them got kicked out of pre-school

I can't stand that.

We were more comfortable with a day care center setting and have friends and family who use home based care. It's all a matter of what you are comfortable with. I hate when others try to ram their choices down your throat

I can't believe she would say that to you after knowing that's what you are doing!!
And Now My SIL is going to force me to tell her WHY I DON'T want my son to go where her's goes.. so now you are forcing me to tell you why I don't agree with your decision!!! Just going to cause friction!!! If I we asked for opinions on which is better..ok then give me your opinion.. but we've MADE our decision!! So shut the he!! up!!!

ughh..when will people learn to shut the eff up.

my coworker uses Tutor time in NJ for her son and he loves it! we dont have any near me in pa, but i've heard really good things about them.
