Can't stop crying...

DH took Helmut to the vet about an hour and a half ago. Said it was the hardest thing he's ever had to do.

I'm hysterical... literally cannot stop crying. I know it was the right thing to do. I went to say goodbye to him last night, and man, his tumor (shoulder)... was about half the size of his body, and protruding out from his side. His poor paw was miles away from where it normally should have been. I can't get the image out of my head. He couldn't walk. He just sat on my lap and put his head on my knee. It was heartbreaking.

Is there ANYTHING that will help me feel better?

I'm so sorry. Just give yourself time. Saying goodbye to a pet is the same as saying goodbye to any loved one. It'll hurt for a while, but it gets easier

Oh no! I'm so so sorry. Please tell me you're not at work! I don't know what else to tell you other than let it out. It always makes me feel better.

I'm so sorry about Helmut. Honestly, it is the best for him, no more suffering.

Time is the only thing that will make it more bearable.
Putting my cat down was the most difficult thing I ever had to do, but it had to be done. He had a fast spreading cancer that left him unable to eat properly because of tumors on his jaw.
It took 4 years for me to get a new furbaby, while Bella can't replace Munchkin, she gives me the happiness and companionship I had with him.

Ugh, that's even worse. Just make sure you go home and hug DH and hug Bear (minding the sharp edges!).

aww, Bear, I'm so sorry to hear about Helmut. It will be hard, I won't lie, but he will be watching over you and your little baby. I'm tearing up just thinking about what you are going through.

omg have2hide.. I just crying at my desk.. just brought back memories of my cat that passed away few years ago..

It will get better. I promise.

I cried for weeks when both my kitties passed.

It's better for Helmut. He knows you loved him so.

It was the hardest thing to do when we put Max down. I didn't know when the right time was. He told me.

KC passed on his own. I can't imagine ever having to do that again.

That poem had me in tears.

Don't expect to feel better right away, give yourself time to grieve. It will get better, eventually.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I know it's hard, but try to remember all the good times with him and try to remember him when he was playful and not sick. I'm so sorry.

I am sorry for your loss. I cried for days after we put Tody to sleep. Every time I think about him I cry. Everyone is different.

Our dog Jack passed away November 13, 2010 and I still cry a few times a week.
I do find comfort in looking at pictures of him before he got sick and talking to DH and my kids about his famously funny personality.
There really isn't anything to make it totally better, it just stinks.

What you're going through is one of the WORST feelings ever......been there many times unfortunately. Only time worked for me.....sorry for your loss!
