I'm so sorry for your loss! I khow how hard it is, after Schultz died, I couldn't stop crying, everyday when I came home from work, it was terrible.
To keep myself busy - I cleaned out every closet, drawer, shelf, etc in the entire house, threw a ton of stuff away, cleaned, etc. Keeping busy - and in a physical way - definitely helped.

I am so sorry for your loss. It is the hardest thing but the kindest thing you could have done. It does get better, you just have to let yourself go through the emotions and give yourself time

I'm so sorry. I couldn't be in the room when my cat was euthanized. I sat in the waiting room holding my son who was only 10 months old bawling my eyes out. I was actually looking up how to handle grief like that as an adult. I decided to a modified take on a kids book on gried and I simply made a list of 10 great things about her, things that made her special and special to me. The way she liked to sit in the wet bathtub after I showered, the way she was a one person cat and I was her one person. I read to my husband then and it didn't feel silly or childish or anything, it really helped a lot.
It still hurts 8 years later but it changes, I promise.
