Car Accident/Insurance Question
My friend was in a minor accident on Saturday. Some lady stopped short after stopping at a stop sign and my friend hit her. The lady had a little dent and took her insurance info, said she wouldn't call because my friend offered to pay if she wanted to fix it and did call the insurance company to put in a claim. Long story short, my friend is afraid her insurance is going to sky rocket. I have never been in an accident and wouldn't know if and how much it would go up but I wouldn't imagine it being that much, it was her 1st accident. Does anyone have any experience with this?
TIA

Re: Car Accident/Insurance Question
depending on the company (all are different in what they do)...if its her 1st accident, considered at fault- it could be forgiven.
if its not, and is an at fault, it could be really minor and that would only depend on the payout made to the other party. Surcharges usually follow on the amt of payout...etc.

Re: Car Accident/Insurance Question
any payout under $1000 will not be considered a "chargeable accident" with most insurance companies (95%)
