Car related issue- dead battery....
My extra car is once again having battery issues. It is a new battery, I just do not drive the car too much. Has anyone purchased one of those battery packs? Do they work? Which one did you get and would you recommend it??? TIA! PS I do not feel like having AAA here again unless I have to.

I got one of those packs.. Our battery died right outside of a Sears (nice luck) when we were upstate. I don't think it matters what brand but they are amazing. They jump your car in less than a minute!
Could it be that the alternator is bad on the car? I can't think of why a new battery would die so often.

I'm thinking it's the alternator. If it's a new battery, it sounds like the alternator is not doing it's thing and the battery therefore is not holding the charge.

Re: Car related issue- dead battery....
I really have not driven the car since the new battery went in in October. I would start it every once in awhile for 10 minutes and then turn it off.It is my own fault for not driving it. It has only 15,000 miles on it. The car is 9 yrs old. It makes the clicking noise like it is the battery. I hope that is all it is.

Could be a short also. I once had a short in my trunk light. The light never went off, killing the battery.

Yeah, If you have a brand new battery it may be your alternator that needs to be replaced.

Re: Car related issue- dead battery....
We went to Auto Barn and inquired there with the manager. He said even if you start the car in the driveway and do not drive it this can happen. We bought a car charger, and we will see what happens. If this does not work we are calling AAA and getting it checked out. I told the Mngr that the alarm sounds horse and sick, he said he was pretty sure it was no charge in the battery. I hope so. DH has his work cut out for him tomorrow morning, he has the day off. I hope this will be all that it is and it is fixed.

Re: Car related issue- dead battery....
I have an automatic battery cut-off switch on DW's car. She doesn't drive far enough to recharge the battery sometimes. This gadget cuts off the battery when it drops to a certain level. Just tapping the brake pedal turns the battery back on, and there's plenty of power to start the car. the only thing you notice is that the clock is reset. But, at least your car starts.
