car stuck in ignition key - Ford Fusion 2007
any ideas how to get it out?? do i need to take it to the dealer? ugh... car ran fine, runs fine.... shut off ignition and the key won't come out... tried wiggling, everything.... the steering wheel is not locked. Help???

Try turning the wheel. I know it sounds weird but turning it back and forth a few times helps when this happens.

where is the gear stick? On the wheel? Or in between the seats? Make sure the car is actually in PARK- even though it looks like it it is might not really be. We have that problem with our minivan sometimes...
we've also had the problem happen with our lexus once and they said it was that the ball bearings in the lock was clogged... they had to take the whole ignition./key part taken out.

thanks for all the tips... tried turning the wheel and also checked the gears... it's definitely in Park...the light's clicked in and everything... the gear stick is between the seats...
do you think it's safe to let it sit tomorrow all day and take it to dealer friday? i dont really have time tomorrow... ugh...

take it to a locksmith
this happened to my dads honda once..
took the guy five minutes to get it out!

I had that problem with my Ford Focus, it wound up being the wheel needed to be giggled around then it would just come out.

The new Fords are notorious for that!
My SIL had a Focus it happened to. You'll have to take it to the dealer.

DH got it out with no problem this morning...it's been fine so far this morning... do I still take it to the dealer?
