Carpenter Ants..........
SUCK!
I have never been so disgusted by a little insect like I have been with these.
We got exterminated twice.....they started in bedroom and we figured it was some bushes...got rid of those.
Sprayed...now they were in my kitchen 
They came again yesterday.
I even had a nightmare that they were all over ME and I was scratching all nite!
I hear it gets worse before they get better.
Do you think there is a nest somewhere?
I am literally bugging.. no PUN intended.

Oh they are the worst. I came home one Friday night to find tons in our guest bedroom and bathroom! 
I kept killing them and the more I killed the more came around!
We called an exterminator and they came the next day.
We used Arrow based I believe in Lybrook. It wasn't cheap, but we haven't had an issue since a month ago. Thank god! Good luck!
oh and to answer your question, yes they're prob is a nest.

Why didn't the exterminator spray the entire house? Mine usually sprays inside the entire house (especially the kitchen) and the outside perimeter. Then he puts this gobby stuff on all the window sills.
and it's all pet/kid safe too.
ETA that yes, it usually gets worse for the first day or two and then they just disappear! lol

Mine too. I need to call him to come again. They are starting to come in and they are gross. In the weirdest places too

Tehre might be a nest. We have that problem too and we called in Terminix and then we didnt see them anymore. Most of the time they come from old trees.
