Carpeting or hard wood floors in the nursery?
Which do you have?
The room that's going to be our nursery has HW floors, and i' getting a little area rug. I figured that would be fine (and, easier to clean) but now i'm wondering if carpeting would be better. The playroom has carpeting, so that's where she'd be more likely to be rolling around on the floor and stuff like that, if it makes any difference?

Re: Carpeting or hard wood floors in the nursery?
Our nursery has HW floors and we have a area rug that was included in our bedding set that we are using as well. DH and i think the HW would be easier to clean.

That was my train of thought- especially in the instance of the possible poop-flinging I'm thinking HW would be much easier to clean than carpeting.....

Re: Carpeting or hard wood floors in the nursery?
Our nursery has HW floors & will have an area rug. Originally I wanted carpet for the reasons you stated but then I was reading that for allergy factors, it is better to have HW floors. We will stick with that & eventually as DC gets older we will use mats & what not in his/her room

Re: Carpeting or hard wood floors in the nursery?
Our whole house is hardwood floors. We'll be putting down an area rug in the nursery, just have to find one we like.

With DH's allergies and the chances of our daughters taking after him in that area, it's better for everyone's breathing in our house to not have carpeting

love carpeting in the baby's room. You are on the floor with the kids all the time! It's so much more comfy for everyone (especially when the babies are learning to crawl)

Re: Carpeting or hard wood floors in the nursery?
We had HW for our first DD and this time we redid the room and put carpet. It just seems alot more cozy this way. I used the remnent that was left as a rug in front of changing table. I never had any spilling poop issues so Im not worried.

HW with an area rug. If you are worried, get those foam pads for the floor.
All I'll say is that vomit and formula are MUCH easier to clean up off a wood floor than from carpet.

HW with a large area rug. I read that for allergies and cleanliness HW is better, but an area rug will be nice for crawling/sitting, etc.

Re: Carpeting or hard wood floors in the nursery?
in our appt, we have either wood or *ack* linoleum (hello, rent control )
in our house, we have carpet in the upstairs bedrooms.
I grew up in a world without carpet. we used to put blankets down on the floor for the babies to crawl/play on.
I am sure the hardwoods with an area rug would work just as well as anything.
if the house wasn't already carpeted in the bedrooms, I wouldn't have done it.

Re: Carpeting or hard wood floors in the nursery?
We were thinking of continuing the laminate wood into the nursery that we put down in the rest of the house, but I think we're just going to replace the carpet in there with new carpet. Still debating though...

Re: Carpeting or hard wood floors in the nursery?
We have HW but I would like to put carpeting in the nursery and in the living room where I am sure the baby will be playing a lot...the hardwood seems cold and uncomfortable.

Carpet! Once the baby starts crawling, you will want the softness and padding.
