Cat pee again!
Obviously behavioral but we started smelling something in the living room. We have an area rug and laminate.
We removed the rug to see if that was it but the smell was still there. I got down on all fours to smell the floor. Yes, it smelled.
Went out and bought natures miracle and just mopped the floor with it full strength.
It still smells in there but will it take a while for the enzymes to break it all down?
Should I mop again with it later?
I'm devastated to think I may have to rip up a perfectly good laminate floor.
I can't even sit in my own living room. I smelled the couches too and that's fine.

Re: Cat pee again!
Try to let it dry and see if it took care of it. I thought I was going to have to rip up my carpet (and I rent ) but soaking the area with nearly two whole bottles and continually blotting it with an absorbent cloth over the course of a month managed to get the smell out.
Was your cat peeing on the area rug? I found that sushi started marking mats...kitchen, bathroom, area rugs...even her scratching mat.

Re: Cat pee again!
We took the carpet out of the room and thought it was better. The blacklight found stains on the carpet too but we didn't treat it yet. Rolled it up and put it in another room. Just did a second dose of the stuff and mopped with just water in between. It was dry and I did it again. The smell was even worse.
The blacklight now only shows one stain but the smell is worse in other areas that are not showing stains.
My fear is that it got between the slats. That means we have to rip up the floor.
UGH!

Re: Cat pee again!
I called the cleaning guy that cleaned my mattress a few weeks ago after one of them peed on the bed. He got the smell out in one shot.
So I figured why not call. He told me that they could be spraying and that is far worse. He recommended I try white vinegar. One part vinegar and 2-3 parts water. So I tried it. The room smells like a salad. But the cat pee smell is barely detectable.
So I'm going to mop it again with that solution and let it dry and tomorrow will use just some water and then see how it is. If the cat pee smell is gone I will just mop with the usual cleaner I use to make it smell nice.
I really hope this is it. I can't believe one of them is so upset that they are peeing outside of the box again.
I have to make sure I scoop every single day sometimes twice a day. Also I have to figure out how to get them to stop doing this if it's just behavioral.
gotta say, nothing worse than cat pee.
