Catskills resorts

Has anyone been to any of the Catskills resorts, like Kutschers, Villa Roma, or the Nevile lately? I haven't been to Kutschers since I was a kid, and I'm wondering if these are still quality hotels. We are trying to plan a long weekend vacation with my parents, my sister, brother in law, and nephews, and these family resorts would be ideal. TIA!

You remember the concord?? - You can probably get a room there cheap Chat Icon

When I was a kid we loved going to the NEVELLE, Kutschers and the Concord. The hotels are pretty run down from what I hear and not the same as they were when we used to go there many years ago.

I used to go to Villa Roma every year as a kid (ages 8 - 14, then again 18 - 21). Ahh the memories! Chat Icon

I loved going to Kutschers as a kid, and we were hoping to go back there, but not if it's run down these days.

Very sad about the Concord. Chat Icon

Re: Catskills resorts

We went to Friar Tuck for New Yeras a couple of years ago and didn't think very much of it. Some of us had a timshare type unit, but those who were in the actual hotel were really disappointed. The rooms were really old and looked like they hadn't been updated in some time.

Re: Catskills resorts

I used to go to all of them- the Raleigh, The Pines, The Concord, but mostly Kutchers. We went the same weekend every year for like 8 years. I had the same group of friends that came every year too. I LOVED it there. It used to be my favorite vacation of the year.

I'm sorry, but Kutchers is disgusting, IMO!! I'm sure it was once beautiful, but they have TOTALLY let it go. Seriously, the place skeeves me. Chat Icon

DH's uncle has been going every year forever and we *have* to go, too. (he's a dear elderly man who loves to have his family around him - he pays for everyone to go)

Thankfully, it's just for 2 nights because I honestly couldn't handle any more. He hasn't mentioned it to us yet this year and I'm hoping he's not going to!!

Sorry for the vent. I'm not familiar with any of the other resorts.

I heard that the fallsview was completely redone -

Check out trip advisor and do a search of these hotels in the review section

Re: Catskills resorts

When I was a kid, we went to the Concord, Kutchers, Raleigh, and the Nevele. The last time we went to the Catskills was about 7 or 8 years ago. On The Today Show several weeks ago, I saw something about a lawsuit being brought against the Nevele for bed bugs. The story seemed a little sketchy though (person continued to stay there and went back a few weeks later) so I don't know how much I trust her claims.

I went to Villa Roma about 3 years ago and it was pretty rundown. I think the Nevele looks to be in better shape, but you never know.

I have to say, I had a massage at Villa Roma and it was great! We did the water aerobics too and that was fun.

Re: Catskills resorts

I went to the Nevelle last year with my family for a ski weekend. It wasn't really rundown at all. The rooms were decent & the food was good. The entertainment is lacking, but its no worse than I remember it when iw as a teenager.
