CD 15 1st metformin cycle- a few questions.
Hey ladies... today is CD 15 of my 1st metformin cycle. I have no idea if I did/am going to O since this is my 1st time really using the OPK strips and my 1st cycle in about 9 months. I took the OPK's all different times of day, did not hold my pee for 4 hours and took them with FMU a few times.. so I really have no idea if any of them are even legit or not. I got a couple darkish ones, they were not as dark or darker than the control line, but they were darker than I have ever gotten when I used to play around with them during my 9 month "AF break". Do you think it's possible I did O on one of the days I got the darkish lines and maybe I just did not catch the surge because of the time I took the test and/or because I didnt hold my pee?? I felt O cramps kind of like what I remember feeling when I got pregnant with DD.. but I dont know if it was all in my head or from the Metformin or something. DH and I have been BD as much as possible since AF ended and we will continue until further notice. LOL
Also- I have been really gassy the past week or so... have any of you experienced that with O or maybe Metformin? I really feel hopeful about this month for some reason... but I do not want to get my hopes up and then be let down, KWIM? Please send some baby dust my way!!! Thanks for reading!

Re: CD 15 1st metformin cycle- a few questions.
i am on cd43 of my first metformin cycle. do you normally O on your own? metformin can take up to three months to work. it took me six weeks to O on it - and i pretty much never O on my own - maybe once a year. are you on your full dose or are you adding in a little at a time. i do 1500mg once a day - but i started with 500 for a week, then 1000 for a week, and then 1500.
i am lucky enough to have had no negative side effects from it. actually the only two side effects i have noticed are that i no longer have cravings for anything at all - like i used to crave sweets and salty foods and cheese and basically each week was a new craving until i satisfied it and then i would move on to a new craving. none of that anymore - but i do think that is directly related to the way metformin regulates my blood sugar. the other side effect - and sorry this is WAY tmi - is ummm very regular #2's if you know what i mean.
good luck!!

Re: CD 15 1st metformin cycle- a few questions.
I've been on metformin for about a month and a half now. I found it definitely curbs my appetite, especially when I first started taking it. It's helped me to not be hungry as much, so I'm paying more attention to my body and only eating when I'm hungry. I'm also trying to make better eating decisions, which I read is something important to do while on the metformin.
It does mess with your stomach quite a bit, but that also subsided after time. Being gassy was definitely one of the side effects I had. Certain foods would run right through me and some would make me nauseous. I still have some effects from it, but most of the side effects subsided after a few weeks.

Ok Maybe I'm just dumb, but I take metformin for being diabetic.......Is it also to help with getting pregnant?????Great for me then..... Oh and by the way, if you guys are just gassy on it, be happy, everything runs right thru me. Baby dust to all of us

Metformin is often used as a fertility drug for women with PCOS. It doesn't help you get PG per se, but it does help regulate insulin levels (as you know), which I think helps to keep hormones regulated.
Yeah, I find some foods do run through me - especially my beloved bagels. Pizza makes me nauseous as can be.

Re: CD 15 1st metformin cycle- a few questions.
Thanks so much everyone! I was RX'd the Metformin for pre-diabetes when I was in the hospital with pneumonia because they had me on steroids and it was causing my sugar to go up a lot... but I do also have very irregular cycles and have had cysts in the past, but never really been diagnosed with PCOS. So the Metformin was given to me for all those reasons pretty much and I am hoping it's just what I needed. It caused me to get AF for the 1st time in 9 months within ONE WEEK of starting it. And so far this cycle feels like the most normal cycle I have had in YEARS. That's why I am feeling so hopeful. When my fertility app on my iphone said I should be O'ing based on a 28 day cycle I felt like I possibly WAS O'ing... It felt the way it did when I O'd and got preg with DD. When I got preg with DD I had just come off BCP and I O'd right on time according to a 28 day cycle. I know I shouldn't assume I am going to be that lucky again, but I am praying I will be...... I guess all I can do is wait and see though.... I HATEEEEE waiting!
Baby Dust to all of us
