Ceramic tile throughout the apartment - suggestions?
FH and I found an apartment we really like in Lindenhurst, but I have an issue with it, and am looking for some ideas before we put down a deposit.
The apartment is on the ground floor, literally 30 feet from one of the inlets that go up to Montauk Hwy., so the floors are all ceramic tile. Even the bedrooms. It just doesn't feel "cozy" to me that way, and if I had my way, I'd carpet the bedrooms and living room. But there's no way to lay carpet without gluing it and ruining the tile... is there? Do any of you have any experience with all-tile apartments? What have you done?
TIA!

You could put down an area rug to cozy things up. Area rugs do not have to be that expensive. I have seem them reasonably priced at Walmart!

We rented an apt with ceramic thru the entire apt for two years. I had an area rug in the living room and the bedroom. While I didnt love it, I didnt hate it either.

Thank you both for the suggestion. I'd thought about area rugs, but like Amy, I really don't think I'd "love it." And before plunking down so much money, I want to have something I love!
Has anyone tried "loose laying" the carpet? My father works at ABC Carpet & Home in Manhattan, so he's the expert, and he basically told me that it's my only option, but I'm worried about the carpet moving and bunching. I don't want to trip over my carpet in the middle of the bedroom!

I would put down area rugs. IMO I wouldn't spend money on something I couldn't take with me.

That definitely makes sense, but since my father works at ABC, I'd get carpet for next to nothing. I mean, I could get a rug there too and pay a little more for it (even if he could get rugs for me "at cost" they'd be a little over my budget!) and take them with me... but then I'd have to see that stupid white tile floor everywhere.
Maybe I'm just nervous about moving and am finding something to harp on, I don't know. Thanks for the ideas in any case, ladies!

My parent's home in Las Vegas is all some sort of tile in the entire house except the Master Bedroom. I think it looks nice and they warmed it up with ares rugs. Pics inmy album.
