cervix measuring 2.5 cm with funneling
After a week's worth of bed rest, my cervix is holding steady at 2.5 cm still with some funneling. My doctor pressed down on my belly and made me cough and nothing changed. He seems to be fine with this and doesn't want to do a cerclage since there are some risks in that as well. I had a LEEP procedure 2 summers ago and he thinks that maybe 2.5 cm might be the "norm" for me. I'm still on modified bed rest and teaching from my desk, not lifting anything heavy and no stairs. How does this sound? Should I get a second opinion?

Thats where I was. Did he suggest a cerclage at all as a possibility?

Re: cervix measuring 2.5 cm with funneling
No true BTDT advice. My cervix went down to 3cm around 17 weeks, when I went back for a follow up a week later it was up to 4 cm and has been steady since (now 32 weeks with twins).
When do you go back again for another cervix check?

Honestly, it wouldn't hurt to get a second opinion. I'm actually surprised he's not considering a cerclage. In the meantime lie down as much as possible, sitting up and standing places pressure on the cervix.
Hang in there

ITA! I would think especially since you are funneling, he would want to do a cerclage. I would get a second opinion. You can also opt to get the cerclage just to be safe. I was less than 1cm and started funneling the morning i went in for my cerclage at 24 1/2 weeks. They did the cerclage and i was fine until i had the twins at 32 weeks.

I completely agree! A second opinion can't hurt. I had a cerclage at 14 weeks and it held strong with my twin pregnancy

Re: cervix measuring 2.5 cm with funneling
Thanks girls. I'm on hold waiting to talk to the other doctor who was my gyno but he's not an OB anymore. I teach, so even though I've been given permission to stay off my feet, I am sitting.

Re: cervix measuring 2.5 cm with funneling
So the other doctor, who I love and trust with my life said that if his daughter or daughter-in-law had a cervix that measured 2.5 cm he would be dancing around the house. He reassured me and said some people have a long cervix and some have short and it looks like I'm falling in the short category. I'm still resting and as soon as I get home from work I am horizontal. Thanks girls!
