My DS was the same way and come to think of it still is. He never enjoyed being changed. I have to keep him entertained somehow. Try a toy or a fav TV show or anything that will give you 45 secs to change a diaper.

DD gets changed on her belly because it's the only way to somewhat contain her. She hates being dirty so I'm hoping potty training will be easy and I can't wait!

She had tons of ear infections as a baby before she got her tubes at 8 months so she hates anything on her back.

Rylan is a nightmare to change most of the time. What works for me is giving him one of the diaper sacks(poopy diaper bags) to play with...empty of course. I know...bad mom giving my kid a plastic bag but i'm standing right there and it does the job most of the time.

I try to keep toys on the changing table. He only plays with them on the changing table so he gets excited whenever he sees them and it will occupy him long enough for me to change him.

Re: Changing a baby who went stay still...

We make a big deal of letting DD choose a favorite toy of the moment to take with her for the diaper change...she scoops it off the floor then I schlep her down for a new diaper...it doesn't guarantee no whining or wiggling around, but it usually does help.

it's the same in our house. Lately she likes to play with the lotion bottleChat Icon , so if she'll sit still with that, so be it!

If DS is watchign TV (only baby einstein) and just wet I will change him there.

Otherwise, I try to change him when he is drinking a bottle. or I grab the telephone and let him play wiht it, he also loves DHs blackberry!

So I will just grab anythign I think he will like and will entertian him. lately he likes the diaper cream tube

Ok in all seriousness when the squirmy stage started, I would pin them down. Dont' call CPS - they're totally fine. I would put my forearm across their chest & do a one armed diaper change.

If you need more limbs to pin them down, move to the floor.Chat Icon

Re: Changing a baby who went stay still...

One of my girlfriends hung her mobile on top of the changing table from her ceiling!!!!!! I thought it was ingenious, and Kristina was entertained the whole time that it took me to change her!

When we are home, I give her a tube of lip gloss, a bottle of her Tylenol, or her bottle of vitamins to play with.... it works for us....

Yup, if I remember correctly, it was around then that I switched to pull-ups! Chat Icon DS would NOT sit still for a diaper change at all. I used the Pampers easy ups. They are not training pants, they are regular diapers but you pull them on instead of having to use the tabs. The are a lot of other mommies that went through the same thing, you aren't alone Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

(BTW, I CAN NOT believe he is 10 months old already Chat Icon . I feel like it was yesterday that we were talking about mohels Chat Icon )

I give him a toy or diaper to play with. Sometimes I also sing to him. His favorite changing tunes are Take Me out to the Ball Game and The Wheels on the Bus. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

My DS loved playing with scotch tape- go figure ! It kept him occupied enough just to get through the diaper change Chat Icon

Jack was the same way and it was around that time that I stopped using a changing pad and had to change him in front of the TV. It's still this way at 18 months otherwise he'll run around naked.

I also make sure that I have some "toy" for him to play with - i.e. remote control, phone, lotion bottle.

Re: Changing a baby who went stay still...

My DD has been like that since 7 months old. Even now at 2 years, she is still the same. Like PP have said, I always make sure she has something to play with , basically anything in reach. Now that she is older, I try to sing to her to keep her distracted while I change her.

I usually give DS a diaper to hold on to or a remote control (from his mobile that we took down).
