Changing a dog's wake up time?
I'm a teacher and during the school year my dog could always wait until 5:45 when I woke up to go out for the first time for the day. Now he's waking up around 5:15 everyday. While it's not so bad in the summer since I can go back to sleep, I don't want to have to wake up 30 minutes earlier to walk him and then go back to sleep for just a few minutes before the alarm goes off.
In the past, we've tried to shhh him and tell him to go back to sleep and sometimes he has gone to the bathroom in the bedroom as a result. I don't want this to happen but I do want to get him closer to his old wake up time. Is there any way of doing this?

What if you try taking your dog out later at night, that way she/he might sleep longer in the morning. I have the opposite problem, my dog doesn't want to get up in the morning. We have to drag her out of bed and outside, it's the funniest thing...

I'm a teacher as well. Maggie used to be a 6 am wake up. I find that she sleeps longer in the crate then when shes out. In the crate she sleeps until 9. Out of the crate she wakes up for every little sound....

He goes out for the last time usually after 12 with my DH! Isn't that crazy? And still he wants to wake up so early!
He hasn't been in a crate since he was a puppy and he sleeps in our room which is pretty dark. It's not yet light out at 5:15.
