Changing Certification to married name
Has anyone done this?
How difficult is this?
Does it take forever?
What exactly do you have to do?

All you need to do is send in a copy of your marriage certificate (make sure your ssn is on it). Not sure exactly how long it takes - probably 4-6 weeks.
It is completely unnecessary to do this, however, since everything is linked to your ssn not your name.

I just renewed my certification and when I asked, they said it's totally up to me if I want to or not, but it is not necessary. I just left it in my maiden name.

Where do you send it ? Albany right? I am trying to get approved for Early Intervention and your current name MUST match your certification.

I was able to change mine without sending in anything. I went into teachonline services
update/add education, employment and personal info
edit personal info
request name change
It will ask you why and effective date.
I was changing from initial to professional and my professional came in with the married name on it.
I never sent them anything.

I did this on TEACH and haven't heard anything in almost a year. Very frustrating

i just did it. I applied back in March and it's still "under review" but they did change my name FINALLY...  I wonder if I should apply for an extension at this point since my license expires..

Call them up to speed up the process. I applied in November and sent in my final paperwork in January. Come the end of March, mine still said under review. I called up and they processed it right over the phone. (It took about 20 minutes of being on hold, but it was worth the phone call).
