I never had a changing table so it was usually on the bed.

usually I give him a small toy to hold and we "talk" about it...or I sing songs or count his "stinkies" (toes and feet).

if he has a tv "problem" don't involve it further. distract him with your voice, with tickles.

another thing that works is giving him a piece of clothing to "fold"

but really, just try to make it fun for both of you. we wrestle a little first. then I ask him "is that peeps in your diaper" and we say "ugh or yuck" and take it from there. sometimes he tries to roll and I place my arm on his body and sing or laugh or say something to distract him.

I started doing things like this only at 8m, before that DS was a nightmare and almost fell off a few times.

I always start by asking him to pick him up and put on changing table. I ask him to hold diaper, cream, a washcloth,... we talk about it, and I always end with a foot massage. Its how I would like my diaper changed Chat Icon

He's 12m crazy mobile, and we use the changing table very gracefully. I'm also terrified of TV addiction.

I feel a lot better seeing how many other people have issues with this. It doesn't matter where I change him (table, bed, floor) or what I give him (toy, remote, cell phone, lotion, diaper) or if i sing, eat his feet or tickle his belly. He KNOWS he is getting his diaper changed and he HATES it. With him it started in the very beginning... he would kick his feet and cry. Now he kicks me and thrashes about. I thought my son was the only one who all of a sudden HATES when we lay him on the changing table. Besides the fact that I have to stop using it anyway, he is a terror when I lay him on it. The tickles and the talking with a funny voice calms him down. But man, he is an animal on that thing.

I've been putting off changing him elsewhere because it's a lot easier on my back being preggo and all. But he is also getting too big for it.

This I don't get....we realize Ian has a dirty diaper in the den (which is on the other side of the house from his room). I say..."ok Ian, lets go change your tushie in your room". he drops everything, and walks to his room. HE KNOWS WHAT WE'RE GOING TO DO!!! the second i go to pick him up he goes nuts. he asked for it. Re: Changing Table HEL L !!!!!!!!!!!! WWYD

DD can be a nightmare with a diaper. For us the floor is easier than the changing table, I usually set her dance star mickey on the floor next to her and she watches him dance while I change the diaper. While that works most times, there are definitely awful ones mixed in there. And forget about public diaper changes, those are the worst!

Re: Changing Table HEL L !!!!!!!!!!!! WWYD

I stopped using the changing table at around 8 months.

Tyler screams for every diaper change since he turned 8 months. I just wrestle him down and get the job done as quickly as possible.
