Chase Mortgage Preapproval
Has anyone gotten their preapproval from chase? Do you know if I can just visit any of their branches to apply or do I have to contact their 800 number?

Chase Mortgage Preapproval
We had originally gotten a preaprroval from Chase but ended up going with a broker. Chase was a nightmare afterwards to continue the mortgage process.

Chase Mortgage Preapproval
I got my mortgage approval and mortgage with Chase. The guy I worked with was amazing. I walked into a branch and was told that I did have to make an appointment with him - which was easy to do - he was able to meet me at whichever branch worked for me

Either way, but you likely won't get the preapproval on the spot in the branch. You will need to submit financial documents to get the preapproval.

Re: Chase Mortgage Preapproval
I do real estate closings all the time. If you can use a different bank for a mortgage, I would highly advise you do so. Without fail, every single time Chase is involved in my closings, they are a nightmare. I have not had one clean deal with them. In fact, I really haven't been all that impressed with most of the big commercial banks. Citi is the only one I can think of that we have had consistent seamless transactions.
The credit unions are great to work with. Freedom Mortgage is another mortgage bank that is easy to work with also. Sterling Bank does fairly well. I just did a closing with Academy Mortgage and that flowed very well too.

where are you located? If you are in Suffolk, I will give you the name of the Chase guy I used. He could not have been more helpful from the very beginning to the end of the process. It really was a great experience

I have heard bad things about chase. Bethpage Federal Credit Union has been amazing to deal with.

I agree with this. Mortgage banks (that specialize in mortgages only) are typically so much better for customer service and ease of transaction than the large commercial banks for whom mortgages aren't a profit center. Local is better. I have luck with Freedom as well as Contour, Cross Country, U.S. Mortgage Corp, etc. I can recommend loan officers if you need recommendations.
Credit unions can also be good for certain types of buyers and transactions. They generally work with the cream of the crop buyers and are less flexible on things like C/O issues. But are very good with rates and the closings go smoothly.
