Cheerios as dog treats

I have an 11 week old lab. do you think it's ok to give him Cheerios as a treat when training him? I have the puppy biscuits but I don't want him to eat too many ya know? Does anyone else give their dogs a few Cheerios? I mean the plain ones of course.

Re: Cheerios as dog treats

We give Lilly Cheerios on occassion. We also give her Charlee Bear treats - they are GREAT for training and only 3 or 4 calories each! Some of the treats/biscuits pack quite a punch with the calorie count.

Bella gets cheerios everyday..Chat Icon Chat Icon If she doesn't eat in the morning she will throw up so since she was a puppy every morning I throw a handful of cheerios in her bowl to get her to start eating.

Yes, we did all the time when Daisy was a puppy for training. She learned sit, down, paw, fetch, etc this way. Now she knows when we have cheerios and she sits waiting at the table for her treat and it's healthier than the other stuff out there.

me too! they're good for my dog because I have her on a diet..

I had a bunch in a snack size ziplock to take on a walk with us and I caught my DH about to eat them.. he had no idea they were for dogs.. look like little soup crackers. I'm glad I caught him Chat Icon

BTW, I would think cheerios are fine, there's nothing to them.. certainly can't beat the price for the amount you get

My shibas like cheerios too. Sometimes we'll throw a handful out in the grass and they go "hunting" for them. So cute!

I never even thought about it! I might try it to help with training the new puppy.
