Child benefit plan ...

There was a lot of talk on the stimulus thread about money going to where it should as well as some thoughts that every American should be receiving stimulus.
The NYT has an article discussing Britain's war on child poverty in the time of Tony Blair and his program has drastically decreased the percentage of children in poverty in the UK.
Biden's plan mimics such a plan. Both sides have support for such although it's not unanimous.
I would love to see this work like the UK did.
"...Over all, the legislation will reduce the child poverty rate this year to about 6 percent from about 14 percent, according to projections by the Center on Poverty and Social Policy at Columbia. The biggest declines will be for Black and Hispanic children."...this could be life changing and so positive for the US.

Are you referencing the child tax credit in the stimulus bill? If so, i think it’s great step in the right direction. It’s a shame no R’s aren’t on board but I’m not shocked.

No, this is different if I am reading correctly.
This is a direct payment to children in homes below a stated poverty benefit as designed to be an untargeted benefit.

The child tax credit is supposed to be a partial direct payment.

This would be great. Working with children from a diverse backgrounds, poverty is a HUGE issue for children. Kids wearing the same clothes day in and day out. Children that do not have enough food so I bring in extra granola bars and fruit for them.
