Why would you take that so personal?? To me she was giving her honest opinion and using humor.. What does being a "newbie" have to do with anything.. You were a newbie once too.. everyones OPINION is welcome here whether you have 1 post or 10,000. It was her opinion..
I don't know why I took it so personal, I just did
no big deal, I am allowed my opinion and I am allowed to get annoyed at whatever I want.

I don't think anyone would be aggravated or annoyed or  at a toddler behaving that way at a child's party or an outside BBQ or whatever - it's expected. Kids are NORMAL kids -
But I can understand NOT wanting that kind of craziness at a Baby Shower -
I absolutely positively agree. Toddlers often run wild and can be VERY disruptive.
Everyone is understanding when the event has children invited. I know there have been many places where I really thought that certain kids were little monsters. Sometimes I wonder how their parents can let the child behave so poorly. I would like to hope my future child is better behaved but if he wasn't, I definitely wouldn't take him to adult only functions, especially if I knew the host wished for me not to bring my child.

You know little babies that "are in someone's arms or stroller" scream and cry too....

Honestly, that's great that your kid is so well behaved. That's how it should be, but its Not always the case, and the person being celebrated that day shouldn't have to suffer because of it.
I'm all for kids at mine- it really doesn't matter to me, but i will say- i had my little cousins at my bridal shower (ranging from like 3-10 years old), and though i love, love, loveee them all, i felt like half of the shower was spent telling them to back up, sit down, etc... so everyone could see what was going on.
I don't think anyone here is blaming a kid for being a kid, but the problem is with the parents. I have it in my own family. I have one group of nieces and nephews that can be taken ANYWHERE because they listen and have parents that MAKE SURE that they're well behaved. I have other nieces and nephews that are monsters. I love them, but they are just do not behave at parties, and unfortunately their parents just ignore it and focus on having their own fun, while everyone else has to deal with the BS. If you want that at your party, Fine, but that doesn't mean that anyone else should have to put up with it at theirs. No need to tell us to just wait... you don't need to have a kid in order to form an opinion on proper etiquette, imo.

I honestly think it's a little strange to not want to have any children at a baby shower. It's your own choice, so you need to be clear to your guests, otherwise, you may be in for a few surprises.
Any baby shower I have ever been to has had children there...so I always assume my daughter is invited with me. I do ask when I RSVP just in case, as some people haven't written her name on the invitation, but intended for her to be invited!
I look forward to bringing her to showers though, so I may be an odd one out here. She loves people, and I know the interaction is great for her....and quite honestly....I work full time during the week...the weekends are my time with my baby! I don't prefer to leave her for 4 hours to spend time at a shower with a bunch of women I've never met before!
I am honestly surprised at how many people are completely against kids at showers.....

But, between shower gift, wedding gift, paying for babysitter for reception...paying another babysitter for shower adds up!
I always hated leaving DH to go to a shower on his days off...I could not imagine being a working mom and spending a chunk of my free day without my baby.

It must be hard to leave the baby at home when your time is soo limited! I will be a working mom and I hope Im strong enough to get through leaving my bundle! Thank God I have my mother babysitting!
