Children with Seasonal Allergies

What do you give your DC to help them through?

My daughter, age 11, is on Singular, Nasonex, Patanol drops, & Xopenex. We started her this year BEFORE allergy season started and she really isnt any better than she normally is...

Honestly I dont kow if she is any better than she would be without meds. She says that the meds do bring her some relief but it's minimal...

At this point the nurse has her staying indoors for recess and gym. She just cant get outside...

If your child has seasonal allergies what is there protocol?

TIA

Re: Children with Seasonal Allergies

DS is on almost all the same meds, singulair, patanol, nasonex, add zyrtec and benadryl at night to keep his eyes from being swollen shut in the morning. They dont seem to help much, but who knows what he would be like without them....Im certainly not going to test it.

We keep him indoors as much as possible, when he does go out, its with a hat and sunglasses to keep as much pollen off him. He is changed and washed down the second we step indoors. He has anti-allergy sheets and a pillow case (not sure they really help). He gets a bath EVERY night so that any residual pollen from the day doesnt sit on him all night and then transfer to his sheets. We have to HEPA air purifiers running at all times. One in his room, the other in the living room. We dont wear shoes in the house to track less pollen through. I do a complete dusting and vacuuming (drapes, couches and pillows included) every other day of every room in the house. We keep all the windows shut, and sometimes run the A/C on low in his room on bad days, just for the filter.

Other than that, there isnt much else we can do. Im so looking forward to all of this blooming being done, bc once it is, he is fine again (at least I hope, bc he was better by June last year).
