I just read on Newsday they were animal remains, and not that of an infant.

They just reported that they are finding animal bones as well and they have been sending some out to double check. They did not say that the infant remains were not indeed true.

I hope that I am wrong but I believe that they found animal bones in ADDITION to the child. The child was found days ago actually so I would think by now that they have figured out if it is a child or not. AGAIN, I pray that I am wrong.

Thank God! Why would they even write something so horrible if its false information. How would they even mistake animal bones for human. I know the average person might not be able to tell but I'm sure if they had anyone there that knows something about human anatomy they would be able to tell the difference. Even if you only had parts of the skeleton you should still be able to tell. Just glad it wasn't a child, I am so sick of hearing about all of these bodies... we live in such a sick world! Not sure if it is false information or not, but if you read the Newsday article thoroughly, no where in that article does it say that the animal bones were mistaken as infant bones. I believe the "infant" bones were found days ago and the animal bones were found this morning.

Re: Child's body found at Gilgo Beach

according to the NYPost a "law enforcement source" stated that the remains of a child were found last week in the second group of remains that have yet to be identified. Chat Icon this is so sad and terrible....

In addition the following is on News12 as of 2:01pm:

Remains found at Jones Beach; not yet known if human
(04/11/11) JONES BEACH - Police announced during a news conference this afternoon that remains were found 1.5 miles east of the Jones Beach water tower on the north side.

Officials say it has not yet been determined if they are human or animal remains. The medical examiner is expected to make the determination soon.

The article I read said they found remains TODAY (Monday, April 11) and could not determine at the scene whether or not they were animal or human remains. Of the 4 unidentified bodies they have, ONE, is a child. ETA: If I had to guess, I would think, the single body they found is the chilld, and the three others they found "together" are adults. Although the cops aren't saying, the 3 they found "together" are probably linked to the first 4.

Yikes! Newsday just updated their story to reflect all of this information.

this is so horrible! I wonder how long those bramble bushes have been used as a dumping ground by either car or by boat.
