chimney question
last year, i had a chimney sweep come in to get ready for the cold season.
he told me that my chimney needed to be re "plastered" (i know i'm using the wrong term).. he said it wasn't smooth inside and smoke could come back in the house.
just last night, i was talking with someone about stuff to do to the house. i mentioned the chimney and the price i was quoted.
the person i was talking to told me that i can put a tube of some sort (heat resistant of course) in the chimney and it would work fine.
has anyone heard of this? is this safe?
because it's sure a lot cheaper than what i was quoted and could help keep my heating costs down.

Re: chimney question
You can put a chimney liner in, but make sure you really need one. It's not uncommon for the very inexpensive chimney cleaners to tell you that you need some other expensive service, such as a liner, or creosote cleaning, etc.

Re: chimney question
you're very right. i'm doing a bit of research on it.
step one will be to ask for another opinion.
thanks for the info... i just had never heard of these liners before... so happy it might not be too expensive to be able to use my fireplace!!
