Chimney cap question
Our chimney cap blew off in this wind. Obviously DH can't get up there today to fix it but is this really that big of a deal? DH is all paranoid that rain is going to damage the furnace or get in the basement. I don't think it's that big a deal if we have to wait a few days to fix it. Am I just that naive?

Re: Chimney cap question
I bought a house that didn't have a cap. I didn't get a cap installed until a year later.
I wouldn't worry about it. But I would address it when your DH has the time.

Re: Chimney cap question
We haven't had a cap in over 11 years, and it doesn't look like there was one before we moved in, so I doubt there was ever a cap on it.

Re: Chimney cap question
the cap is to keep out the critters as well as the rain.

Re: Chimney cap question
Thanks everyone. We'll just make sure we get it back on soon but at least I know it's not too big a deal!
