Christmas/Holiday Card question
SO now that you all have me passing right by halloween and thanksgiving and thinking about Christmas, I have a question. When you get your cards do specifically get Christmas Cards because that is what you celebrate and send them to everyone on your list (regardless of thier religious affiliation) or do you stick wtih Happy Holiday's/Season's Greetings or something equally generic Or do you do something completly different?
Last opinion question, when you get cards with photo's do you like that or is it over done and cheesy now? If you like it, do you prefer those all in one index card type photo cards or the ones that open and the card is held (via tape or a sticking dot or whatever) inside?

Re: Christmas/Holiday Card question
We're an interfaith family, so we send happy holidays cards. If you're a Christmas family, sending Christmas cards is fine, but I always appreciate when someone goes out of their way to send me a non-Christmas card, because, well, Merry Christmas doesn't really mean much to me (although I appreciate being thought of).

Re: Christmas/Holiday Card question
I get a combination of both Christmas and Happy Holidays/Seasons Greetings and send appropriately.
I don't mind getting picture cards of little kids (especially ones we never see) but it's a little weird/unnecessary of entire families or adults. I actually save all the pictures we get (cut off the greetings if necessary to fit in the photo album).
Honestly, I just love getting cards!!! It's one of my favorite parts of the holidays!!!

Re: Christmas/Holiday Card question
I celebrate Christmas but send out generic holiday cards because not all my friends celebrate the same holiday.
As for photo cards, they're okay. Sometimes it's the ONLY way I see what my little cousins look like. ( ) I prefer the ones that aren't the all in one index card thingy - no real reason, just personal preference.

Re: Christmas/Holiday Card question
We celebrate Christmas...however I always get two types of cards...Christmas and a Winter/Snow/Happy Holiday. I sent the Christmas themed cards only to those people I know celebrate Christmas. For everyone else it's the Happy Holiday card.
I personally like the photo cards - we get to see how much the kids have changed since the last year and I think they are cute. I have no preference on type size with them.

Re: Christmas/Holiday Card question
We usually do a Season's Greetings or Happy Holidays phrase. Now that we have kids, we do the kid photo thing. I like children photos, but just adults, or just dogs are a little weird sometimes.

Re: Christmas/Holiday Card question
I usually get both "Merry Christmas" and "Happy Holiday" cards, so I have something to send the few non-Christians on my list.
I still love getting photo cards because they are much more interesting to look at than regular cards (who doesn't like looking at pictures?) Whether or not they are cheesy, I don't really know. . . . Last year, I did photo cards of my dog and I'm sure some people found that over-the-top cheesy, but I really didn't care because I thought they were hilarious.
And I like both types of cards, open or index, it's all good.

Re: Christmas/Holiday Card question
I usually pick out the cards I like and include some Seasons Greetings cards to send to people that are not Catholic.
Regarding photo pics I like them to see how peoples children have grown....or maybe a pet. A bunch of adults is weird to me!

everyone we send to celebrates christmas, so it's christmas cards all around
some of them are more religious than others, so some will get more religious cards vs. santa

Re: Christmas/Holiday Card question
Love photo cards. Makes no difference if it's a foldover, a 5x7 or a long-i-forgot-the-dimensions size.
I go with the generic greeting although the majority of the people on my list are Catholic.
Last year's read:
Wishing you all of the best the season has to offer...
with love, The Gxxxx Family with family names underneath.
I've been trying to figure out my holiday cards since last month.(wish I was joking)

Re: Christmas/Holiday Card question
we send out Seasons Greetings cards to everyone so that i don't have to bother with who celebrates what.
last year we sent out photo cards with our wedding picture on it b/c we got married the month before. this year, no photo. but i like getting them with children on them. they are cute, not cheesy. i don't have a preference as to the type. i hang them up through the season and they all hang just fine.

Re: Christmas/Holiday Card question
We make homemade cards and if I type 'Merry Christmas' in the card template, when I send to my friends of other faiths I handwrite 'Happy Hanukkah' or whatever is appropriate. I love photocards, and more so if the adults are in it because I might not see my friends otherwise!

Re: Christmas/Holiday Card question
I used to get a mix, and send Christmas cards to those I know celebrate Christmas, and Happy Holidays to the rest. The past 2 years I made photo cards, so in that case I went with happy holidays or season's greetings. I have no preference of what type of photo card, I do enjoy getting the photo cards, it's nice to keep them and see how the kids grow over the years.

Re: Christmas/Holiday Card question
We'll be sending happy holidays - encomapssses New Year's IMO too. We'll send it just as a photo in an envelope to our family and friends - special people will get a holiday message letter (mainly family we haven't seen/spoken to in a few months!

Same here.
I don't really have a preference for the picture cards-- either is fine. I do liekt o receive them for kids we dont' see much. OR even ones we do see, I show my parents, who know my friends, but not their kids & are nosy.

Re: Christmas/Holiday Card question
I love any type of photo card. Our families are out of state so this is one way I get to see them.
We usually send out a Christmas themed card because most people we know celebrate Christmas. I do have a happy-holidays stash of cards for those that I'm not sure about.

Re: Christmas/Holiday Card question
I usually get cards b/c I like the picture on the outside and the saying on the inside... If the tag is merry christmas, i get happy holiday ones too for the non christmas celebrating or mixed religion friends
I LOVE picture cards of friends' kids!!
No preference how they are made --
although I think if you are a teenager or older you skip the family picture
