Church offering for baptism

If or when your DC were christened, how much did u give the church? They gave us an envelope for an offering but we're not sure how much to give. What would be an appropriate amount?

Our church told us what their *suggested* donation was ($100), so that's what we gave.

Re: Church offering for baptism

Our church didn't give a suggested amt ~ I believe we gave $75/$100 (We were the only one in our group to have given an envelope)

We gave $60 over what we usually give for offering (which we also gave that day)

Ours was the same...no suggestion so we gave $100. I also noticed we were among the only ones (of the 5 other babies being christened) next to one other who gave an envelope.

I am happy you asked this. My Dh and I were just talking about this last night. We said we would give $100.

We gave $50. The envelope suggested $50-$200, so we went with the lower end lol.

Re: Church offering for baptism

We had a donation, but our church refused it. We were donating $100.
They told us it is their gift to us. There was never any mention of a donation when I made the arrangements.

Our church is the same way. Just gave us an envelope for the day but it's not mandatory. We were thinking either $50 or $100

Re: Church offering for baptism

We are not members of the church yet so we were told to not give anything for either child. If we have another child that is baptised once we are members we will donate or give more during collection. However, our Pastor does NOT believe in donating for this, and asks even members to not do it. I will also say he comes to the hospital after birth as well to baptise if you want him to. He takes it VERY seriously!
