How much money to the church/pastor for Baptism?

I FINALLYChat Icon got the information from the church regarding the baptism process. It states in the brochure that there is no charge however a donation to the church and an 'envelope' to the pastor is customary. I have absolutely no idea how much I'm supposed to donate and give. If you could share with me how much you gave I would greatly appreciate it. FMs are fine if you're more comfortable. TIA!

We were giving 100 and the lady in the rectory said the average is $25, I was shocked, i though that was low, but I think the Godfather gave $50 anyway, the godfather usually pays for that donation...H=

Re: How much money to the church/pastor for Baptism?

We asked our pastor--he came to our home one evening to talk about the baptism process with us which was really nice. So at the end, we said we would like to make a donation, and he said that is very nice, but he simply could not accept it for a baptism--he felt parents should not feel obligated to pay a fee to the church for this sacrament. Other people did tell me that it was mentioned or they were asked for money.

We did wind up donating $100 to the church with the collection, but it was nice that it was not even suggested for the baptism, in fact it was flat out refused.

We gave a lot. Our parish is in a poor neighborhood (Coney Island) and they could use the dough.

Our parish requests a donation to the church - not the pastor. I donated $200. I didn't ask the Godfather for the donatiion, nor did I know that was typical. We didn't give anything to the priest.
