CIO for Naps?
Does anyone use CIO for naps?
DS is 5 months, and a lousy napper, always has been, though he sleeps through the night, so that much is good.
There are times during the day when I know he really needs a nap--he's crankly, rubbing his eyes, etc. but he just won't sleep. Some of the tricks I used to use--swaddle, white noise, crib aquarium, just don't work for him anymore. He's not big on rocking. The only things that work consistently are riding in the car or going for a walk, but those things aren't always possible, like today.
So, by 5 months, did you let DC CIO for naps and did it work? He seems unhappy with anything I do for him till he sleeps, so I'm thinking maybe I should try this, though I hate hearing him cry.

Re: CIO for Naps?
Okay, maybe I answered my own question. I tried to let him CIO. Well, he got hysterical, so after 10 minutes, I went and picked him up. Poor little guy kept shuddering for a long time after. Finally I calmed him down and he fell asleep for a grand 15 minutes.
Ahhh, it's looking like a long day.

Re: CIO for Naps?
yep, I do. I really don't have to anymore, b/c she learned to either play in her crib or sleep. 10 minutes is not long enough at all for CIO.....I would say if you're really going to try it you have to be prepared for up to an hour of crying.

Re: CIO for Naps?
Yeesh, an hour? Even if they are crying so hard they are practically choking? This is what happened to him, then it took a good half hour or so to calm him again. You have nerves of steel! I give you a lot of credit for sticking with it.
Guess I should read more about CIO. I may not be able to do it though.
