classmates birthday parties.....a question
How much do you spend when you child gets invited to a classmates B.day party? Ava is 3 and just started school this year and already has a parties lined up for all off Ocober. I was thinking $30.....is that good? Too little? Also, should I go with toys or clothes? Right now I'm leaning more towards toys with a gift receipt in case thet have it or someone else gets it for them. Thanks!

Re: classmates birthday parties.....a question
There was a recent thread about this. I (and many others) said about $20-$25. More if you know the child.
For classmate parties, I always get toys (with a gift receipt). I figure that the family can get the more practical gifts. Kids love toys, so I want to give a gift that the child will enjoy.

Re: classmates birthday parties.....a question
I usually do $20 for classmates. I usually do a toy. Although the last class party was back in May for a little girl who lives up the block so I know they have a pool. We got a her bathing suit, flip flops and pool toy.

Re: classmates birthday parties.....a question
I usually spend about 25.00. When I RSVP for the party I usually ask the parents what that child is into so I get get a toy that they will like.

Re: classmates birthday parties.....a question
I guess I'm a cheapskate - I spend around $15 - $20. With all the birthdays (there are a lot of kids in my DDs pre-k class), along with our friends kids' bdays and christenings, etc...I can't afford to spend more than that on children I don't know.
I always give gift receipts and always appreciate when I get them too!!!

I do $15-20. Usually something around $17.99 plus tax LOL this seems to be a popular price for a lot of toys. Or a $20 gift card. I don't spend over $20. I think it is fair. I do parties for my kids too and that is generally what people spend. Def gift receipts. I give $30-40 gift for friends. More for a niece/ nephew. I think these are fair too.
