Cleaning bottles/bottle parts

I have a dishwasher basket for the parts and place the bottles in the top rack...do you guys also sterilze after that as well? I haven't been. Also, since I'm not running my dishwasher a bunch of times a day I bought some sterlizer bags to quickly clean everything. Is that ok or does anyone just rinse the bottles and parts in hot soapy water and let them dry for those "between" dishwasher cycle cleanings...

I wash each bottle after use...but not always right away. It's not uncommon for my sink to have bottles waiting. Chat Icon I just won't use bottles unless they have been washed in hot water. Needless to say...we have about 7-8 bottles for rotation.

We didn't even have a dishwasher when DS was a baby. I sterilized nipples when we got them by boiling them on the stove. After that everything of his, pump parts included just got handwashed in hot soapy water like everything else. You don't have to sterilize each time, it's not necessary at all. Chat Icon

I sterilized the first time after opening. After that, I put all the parts in that basket and wash on the sanitize rinse.

Re: Cleaning bottles/bottle parts

I sterlized one time and that was before the first use.

Every other time they were in the dishwasher, and if I wasn't running a load then washed with hot soapy water.

Congrats BTW! Chat Icon

Same here

We have a dishwasher, but we use non-toxic dish soap for his bottles so we hand wash them

By the end of the day, my sink is full and we just wash them before we go to bed.

Re: Cleaning bottles/bottle parts

I clean bottles and parts by hand with hot soapy water. The nanny sterilizes everything once a week (hey it gives her something to do! lol).

Re: Cleaning bottles/bottle parts

I use super hot water and soap. My kitchen tap water gets scalding...so I feel good that I'm really using super hot water.
I thought I would use the dishwasher, but I don't run it often enough.
I run it a LOT- but I wash bottles even more.

I also only sterilized once, when we first take them out of the package.

When she was eating more frequently during the day, we would hand wash them. Now that she eats less times a day, they go in the dishwasher.

I either put them in the dishwasher and run it on 'Sani-Rinse'... it is such high heat that it will sterilize them. When I'm not running the dishwasher, I use the Dr. Brown's microwave sterilizer. I do this every 2 days or so. I don't think you HAVE to, but I think I've developed slight OCD when it comes to bottles lol.

This is us except we do have a dishwasher, but I only run it when it's full so very often I'll just wash all the bottles by hand. I have sterilized nipples again after DD has been really sick, but not as a regular thing.

I've only sterilized parts once (right after taking them out of the package). Otherwise, I just washed everything in hot soapy water and tossed it in the drying rack on our counter. I never used my dishwasher for baby/pumping stuff.
