Cleaning Britax carseats-- quick answer needed, please

DD threw up all over herself & her carseat.

We have the Britax Roundabout. Can I detach the cover and wash it? Dry it? What can I do?

Also, it's on the straps (the canvas part)...what's the best way to clean that?

TIA! I'm desperate!

I just looked up the user manual online and it says you CAN remove the cover, but to HAND wash it and line dry it

Cleaning the Cover
HAND WASH using cold water and mild soap.
LINE or LIE-FLAT DRY to prevent cover from shrinking.
DO NOT bleach, machine wash, machine dry or iron.

Cleaning the Shell
SPONGE CLEAN using warm water and mild soap.
TOWEL DRY
DO NOT use solvents, abrasive cleaners or disassemble the
harness.

Cleaning the Harness
SPONGE CLEAN using warm water and mild soap.
TOWEL DRY
DO NOT bleach, machine wash, machine dry or disassemble
the harness.

My son did this a few timesChat Icon Such a pain in the azz. You have to take the cover off but you can't machine wash it (according to the manual) nor put it in the dryer. I washed it by hand squeezed as much water out of it as I could and hung it to dry. As for the straps I used a toothbrush with soap and cleaned it that way. Then I wiped everything down with a clorox wipe and sprayed clorox anywhere spray all over the seat.

I agree with above posters. Directions say specifically not to machine wash. I wish it was machine washable!!

Sorry!

Although it says not to machine wash, I have washed my Marathon covers a few times, on a gentle cycle and then dried them in the dryer for 10 minutes and hung to finish drying. They looked brand new and not a problem at all.

Especially if its vomit, I would try the machine wash gentle cycle.

If you follow this link and click on "Rear-Facing Installation Instructions & Videos" (3/4 the way down the page), you can view a video on how to remove the cover. Just in case you're a visual learner. Chat Icon

Hope C is okay! Chat Icon

Thanks everyone Chat Icon Sending DH out to work on it now.

So strange...threw up at MIL's today, then in the car on the ride home (which was so incredibly sad to watch, she was so upset Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon ). Temp was 103.4.

Took her to the ped's, ears, throat, everything is fine thankfully. He said it sounds like a virus...no food/liquids for a while except Pedialyte. Now she only wants to be held to sleep Chat Icon Chat Icon

I washed it by hand once and never again. Now I wash it on the gentle cycle in cold water and hang dry it.

I am sorry she is sick. Sounds like a virus. DH came home last night and today had the same symptoms as C.
