Cleaning dog ears...
What do you use to clean out your dog's ears. I don't want to use anything that has a lot of alcohol in it because his ears are dry and sensitive and I don't want to make it any worse...
TIA!

Re: Cleaning dog ears...
Personally I wouldn't put any product into my dog's ears until a vet has checked to make sure timpanic membrane is intact or you can cause harm. Let your vet make sure there is no infection, etc. that needs medical attention before wasting your money on OTC products too. Then let vet recommend a product that is suitable for what issue your dog's ears have. It is not normal for a dog's ears to be painful and using some OTC products might make condition worse.

I use an all natural clove oil ear cleaner. It also has some all natural herbs and stuff in it but it smells like cloves. Very mild. It's called Natural Care Ear Wash Relief Itch and Odor Control with Clove Oil. It's alcohol free.

Re: Cleaning dog ears...
Assuming the vet gives an all clear, here's what we use:
T8 Keto flush Cotton rounds (the kind that take off makeup) Q-Tips
I soak 4 rounds with T8 (2 for each ear), use it to wipe all around, in the canal. Then I use a Q-Tip dipped in T8 to get in the folds. I never go down the canal with the Q-tip. Then I dry it all with a dry round and flip the ear over to let it air dry a little too.
One dog needs a cleaning maybe once a month, if that. The other is every 2 weeks and prone to infections. So far so good with this routine.
