cleaning hardwood floors?
can anyone recommend what to clean hardwood floors with? we've been using murphy's oil once a week and it looks horrible. it looks like a coating on top.

i have the bona system - sold at BBB. love it. i also just got the shark steam mop. cant use it yet bc we just got the floors redone but it has great reviews!

We just had new oak wood floors done. We were told not to use any types of wood floor cleaners, like Murphys, Swiffer, etc... they leave a layer of film, wax build up that is not good for the long term. So I use a soft dust mop to clean them first, then I use a soft damp mop with hot water sometimes with a tiny bit of amonia. They come out great.

We use the Bona system too. this is what the floor company recommended when we had the floors re-done. It works pretty well.
