Cleaning schedule?

As a teacher, I'm on summer vacation and am so tired of spending the weekends cleaning the house when this is really the only time I get to see DH (he works crazy hours during the week and gets home late). I figured if I cleaned for 45 minutes to an hour each day and focused on a specific area, that would free up time on the weekends. Anyone do anything like this? Does it work? Whats your plan? I'm trying to think of the major things that need to be done to assign each one a day of the week!

Cleaning schedule?

I love the Pinterest ideas, but I never get around to them! I do water cleaning (mop floors, scrub tub, sinks) on Mon/weds/fri and the dry stuff (vacuum, dust, clean baseboards, door trims) on Tues/thurs. I try to do laundry whenever I can, no set schedule, and sometimes I do bathrooms and sheets on a weekend instead of Fridays if there's something going on.

Re: Cleaning schedule?

I clean daily to avoid feeling overwhelmed on weekends. And I don't like clutter or things being out of place, or dirt noticeable.

It usually takes me about an hour tops to mop, dust, vacuum and throw in a load of laundry. I usually have dinner started at the same time.

I'm a FTWM though and multitasking has always been a strong point of mine.

Note: we also have pets and I always feel like our house looks lived in and not immaculate by any means.

Cleaning schedule?

During the summer I actually follow less of a schedule because I have so much more time. Year round though my house is always thoroughly clean.

Summer I loosely follow:

Daily stuff in the morning: put away clean dishes from night before, wipe kitchen counters, fold blanket from night before, put away dhs stuff that he used to get ready for work, make bed, wipe down bathroom counters.

Then I move on to any laundry that may need to be done (during school laundry is only done in weekends), and alternate vacuuming/wet swiffering the whole house. During the school year I vacuum during the week and scrub the floors on the weekend, but I'm done bending down right now lol.

Other than that I focus on a few small things a day-today I'm scrubbing the tub/grout, going through our dresser, and cleaning/reorganizing one of the sets of shelves we have in our basement. Another day I'll do another set of shelves, go through a closet, etc. I also do deep cleaning on vacations/summer-appliances, closets, medicine cabinets, going through the pantry, kitchen cabinets, etc-so while this stuff is always well maintained it gets a complete overhaul a few times a year

Re: Cleaning schedule?

I use to do all the cleaning in 1 day, just dedicated 1 day a week to doing it all. But once DD came, it wasn't an option to keep it that way. So now, my house is a lot messier but I do clean every single day for a shorter period of time. I miss doing it all on one day because a) it all looked nice at the same time and b) it didn't feel like I was cleaning 24/7. So every morning I do 1 or 2 loads of laundry (I used to do just 1 whole day of laundry). Every night I do the dishes and quickly clean the kitchen after dinner is done. It doesn't get a full scrubbing each week but the stovetop and counters stay cleaner by me worrying about it each night. I vaccuum the downstairs floors more often at least 2x a week but the upstairs sometimes goes a week or two without being done. One to two mornings a week I clean the bathroom. Sometimes I can only do the toilet and sink and have to leave the bathtub for another time. Filing has basically went out the window. I have an entire rubbermaid container of papers I need to sort through. It's such a struggle!
