Co-sleeping spin-off....with questions..
Is co-sleeping when DC is actually in your bed? In your room?
And do you start off with DC in the crib, and then he or she comes into your bed? If not, do you use the crib at all?
I see so much on here about it, and am embarrassed to admit, i don't really know anything about it...
Also, was this something that you knew you wanted to do before you had DC, or did you wind up doing it because of sleep/eating, and things like that?

I was asking the same thing on another co-sleeping post, but no one responded. I was wondering the same thing. DS goes in his crib at 7:30PM.
Good question

Re: Co-sleeping spin-off....with questions..
Em typically doesn't fall asleep until WELL after 10:00 (sometimes not until midnight)....
She will fall asleep in the living room, in the pack n play, on us (and we'll put her in the pack n play) and then when it's time for Dave & I to go to bed, we bring her with us.
eta for additional question: we didn't think we would be doing it, but with the middle of the night feedings, it was just easier, and we felt SAFER (her room is the farthest from ours). We had the bassinet in the room with us and the 'natural progression' was to bring her into bed. We did it and have been so happy with our decision!

I love to answer cosleeping questions!
For us, cosleeping = baby in bed with us.
Me and Lo go to sleep at the same time, so he is just in the bed with me the whole night. We use the crib sometimes... and would like to transition him eventually! He does go in there for naps (although he never wants to nap in there! he hates it) and we leave him in there for 15-20 min for "playtime" before he takes a nap because he likes to watch the mobile.
This is NOT something we thought we would EVER EVER do! I always thought it was kind of odd when I saw people posting about it... and next thing I knew, we were doing it!
Basically it started like this.. In the hospital (was there for 5 days) I would normally BF the baby at night and then wake Steve or my mom to put the baby back into the bassinet. One night, I guess I fell asleep because then next thing I know, I wake up and the baby is STILL in my arms on the boob! I got FREAKED OUT that I fell asleep holding the baby.. but the nurse said that it was fine and very normal. I knew I didn't want to make a habit of it though!
In the hosp, he slept in the bassinet mostly... but once we got home - he wanted nothing to do with the pack n' play which is where we wanted him sleeping at first (bassinet portion... in our room). We ended up buying the Arms Reach Co-sleeper and he HATED that also. We also got the cosleepers that actually go IN your bed. HATED THAT! We tried each one MANY nights and he just wouldn't sleep there. So I'd end up holding him all night and not sleeping... just kind of dozing off here and there.
The only time he (and me and DH!) would get any sleep was when Loey was in the bed with us... so this just ended up becoming us cosleeping!

Re: Co-sleeping spin-off....with questions..
For me it's in my bed- I always started out by laying w/him and give him bottle and when he fell asleep I'd move him to the crib. He was in his crib for a while- then one night he woke up in the middle of the nite and this lasted for about 2 wks......when he woke up I would just take him in the bed w/ me....just to get some sleep. Now I have been just letting him stay in my bed. I really gotta get him back into sleeping in his crib. or atleast maybe a todler bed.

Re: Co-sleeping spin-off....with questions..
Its not something we planned to do. It evolved over the years. It started when DS# 2 was a newborn and DS# 1 would wake up (he was 19 months old) whenever the baby would cry. The easiest way for us ALL to get some sleep was to keep DS# 1 in bed with us. He would start out in his own bed, then when he woke up, we would just bring him into our bed.
Now that we have 3 children, ages 6, 5, and 2, each and every single night the kids start out in their own beds, and at least one will end up in our bed.
Its never been a problem, and we enjoy it. Its just the easiest way for us all to get sleep. It started out because we are NOT "CIO" parents, so instead, we brought them to us, and they fell instantly back to sleep.
