Commack Multiplex CLOSED!
I just read in Newsday this morning that the Commack Multiplex permanently closed on September 26th 
DH and I went on a "date" to see Aladdin with our mom's sitting a few rows back!
If all goes well, demolition and reconstruction for a Lowe's Home Improvement will begin as early as spring 2012.

It was getting really rundown, a lowes will be nice, but they have so many lowes already...

It's where DH and I met for the first time! Although we do take a LOT more trips to Lowes than the movies these days.

WoW! It wasnt half as run down as sayvilles movie theater. OMG, someone sent me there over the summer, I walked out. It was horrible.

They might be able to put an Ace Hardware store where Sayville Movies are...def not enough room for Lowes!

This isn't directed to you, the OP, but just a rhetorical question..
Why in fresh hell would they build a Lowe's there? Home Depot Expo is RIGHT next door and Home Depot is RIGHT around the corner.
Am I the only one who thinks this makes zero sense?

Expo's been out of business for a while, it's now a ShopRite.

The expo is not there any more and lowes doesn't care anyway. In Riverhead they are building lowes directly across the street from home depot lol

Actually, it's the perfect marketing idea. It's how a large number of stores operate. Look at all the car showrooms in a crowd of car showrooms on a street. You typically see McDonalds surrounded by other fast food places. Gas stations are usually across the street from at least one more gas station.
The idea is, if you're in that area for a product, you'll give the immediate neighboring competitors a chance, whereas if you always go to HD, you won't drive 5 miles out of your way to try Lowes, but you will give them a shot if it's a block away.

I see nothing wrong with a Lowes being near a Home Depot. Competition baby, keeps prices down. Its the way of the world. Plus a Lowes will be a more upscale shopper than the Commack Movie Theater did.
