Communion Gift?
I've had kids making first communion the past two years...nobody aside from grandparents/close aunts gave more than $100.

I'd give $100
Posted by HillandRon
I was told 200-250 for family of 4....
wow...by who?
People I am friendly with in the neighborhood
I would not have known any better since I am Jewish and this is the first communion that I will be ever attending.... And yes, the first one I can't believe it... But I am sure there are plenty of people never at a barmitzvah

Communion Gift?
No more than $100. The kid is 7 or 8 years old, $250 sounds extreme.

Communion Gift?
Since the party is at the house I would give $100. However, most of the communions in my family are not at home and I would give $200-$300 from my husband and I depending on who it was.. I would send $50 if I wasn't attending...

Communion Gift?
My standard is a $100 savings bond for communion. It's a holy sacrament and the gift is for the child. But that is my comfort level.
edited for spelling

Agreed.
As someone who is currently planning a communion party (for my son), I know first hand how easy it is to get carried away with all the extras involved. It can definitely add up. But that's my decision and I can't expect people to give my son as much as they would give for a wedding.
While I do, however firmly believe in at least covering a plate, I cant imagine wedding-like plate prices at a 1st communion.
I hope that makes sense!
