Re: communion gift question

We give $150 for family, including our first cousins' children. We're going to a communion party this weekend actually!

I think $100-150 is appropriate if you can afford it. If not, anything is appreciated I'm sure.

Also, to add, since the gift is for the child and not the parents who are paying for the party, then the amount shouldn't have anything to do with where the party is held. (Then again, I never base my gift on where a party is held. That was the HOST'S decision, not mine.)

Whatever you would give at any other Communion. The parents are paying for the party. The gift is for the child. The fact that it's a big "mini wedding" should have nothing to do with it.

Give what you can afford. Chat Icon We generally give $150 for family and $100 for others, regardless of where the party is. I'm starting to feel like we have been giving too much... but I guess it's hard to go back now...

I would put in $100. I wouldn't put in more just because of where they are throwing it. The parents are throwing the party for her which will be very nice but you shouldn't feel obligated to put in more because of it.

Not at all!

My Goddaughter's communion is on Sunday. I'm getting her a $100 savings bond - aka costing me $50 Chat Icon

Well, than that makes two of us! Chat Icon

My nephew/godson is also making his communion this Saturday and I was thinking about the same amount, maybe even alittle less b/c we were also going to get him a gift he could open.

Re: communion gift question

I was just wondering this. i have 30 first cousins and there are a million parties/wedding/showers coming up. I need to take a loan out to pay for these gifts. i was wondering if $50 is too cheap.
