Re: Concrete countertops
It's very common in California but concrete stains. So if your kitchen is for looks go for it but if you use it don't. Go with something else.

Re: Concrete countertops
If you are selling the house I would not spend the money to put in concrete countertops.
There is a considerable amount of labor involved as they must make them on site. Labor = $$$$ and I know you are trying to watch it.
Yes, it also stains.
There are also people who love the look and people who hate the look.
If you are trying to sell the house, you need to appeal to a wide variety of tastes. I'd pass on the concrete for all of the above reasons.

Re: Concrete countertops
I think they are awesome. Our friend in NC started his own business doing concrete countertops, etc.

Re: Concrete countertops
I love them but would not put them in a house that I'd be trying to sell. They are not neutral enough to all kinds of buyers. Get the least expensive neutral colored Silestone or Corian you can get & be done.

Re: Concrete countertops
love the look, but it does stain. There is a sealent you can use to reduce the staining and get a more patina look. I personally would worry about resale as much. Anything above laminate is an upgrade.

Re: Concrete countertops
LOVE them...I hope to do them in my home when we're ready to gut the kitchen. You can stain them a color and they can be sealed.
It is also a DIY project of your handy...
That said, if you're looking to sell fast, I would do something a little more mainstream, a little more generic/neutral.
