confused about "early bedtime makes him sleep later"
DS wakes at 5:15am like clockwork. Everything I read to get a later sleeper even until 6:00am says set an earlier bedtime.
DS STTN most nights.
Im confused; If we put him to bed for the night around 7:00pm he WILL wake for another feeding. So at that point.. in my mind..he isn't STTN anymore. KWIM?
Is this what they mean..even if you have to feed him again during the night..put him down early anyway.

Re: confused about "early bedtime makes him sleep later"
In your case you DS is simply an early riser. Putting a child down earlier will allow them to sleep til at least 4 or 5 am instead of waking up at midnight, 2am, etc.
Unfortunately there is not much you can do. Eventually your DS will sleep later the older he gets and by the time he's a teenager you will be hard press to even get him to wake at all.

It is true!
Tyler goes down by 6:15 and wakes up between 5:45-6a
Jack was the same way!
ETA: My family is a bunch of very early risers so when I get Jack to sleep till 6:30 I am beyond thrilled!

6 months! Nope, he doesn't wake at all to eat anymore. Even when he did wake, it was not to eat, it was to snuggle, get rocked etc. That was really for about a month or so!

Re: confused about "early bedtime makes him sleep later"
eh!
Joey goes in most nights at 7pm....even I put him to bed at 630 or even 8pm, he's like clockwork usually anywhere from 545-620. If it's 545, I bring him back to bed with us and he'll sleep until 7. If it's 620, I let him play in his crib and I go get him around 645ish (today it was 5am but he got himself back to sleep THANK GOD, then woke at 630 for the day!)
ETA: I meant to ask you this yesterday in our FM but when he wakes he's definitely hungry? have you ever tried just rocking him back off?

Do you mean in the morning or his "last last bottle"
In the morning at 5:15 he talks to himself for a while then today for example at by 5:40 he was screaming!! His last meal was at 8:00 so I new he was hungry. Sometimes on the weekends he puts himself back to sleep until 6:00.

Re: confused about "early bedtime makes him sleep later"
Sounds like you just have an early riser.....I had one too. DS was always up for the day between 5 and 5:30 am until he was a little over a year.

Re: confused about "early bedtime makes him sleep later"
Liam is an early riser too. Always has been. In fact, only once has he slept past 8AM.
Until 7-8months, he was up at 5AMish.
Now at 15months, usually he gets up between 6-7AM. Wish he would sleep longer...
