Convertible car seat question
WE finally put the newer car seats in the car this weekend
I have a Britax Boulevard CS
We put the seat in and everything but it just looks different - that is normal, right? lol What I mean is I guess I am used to him being "in" the infant carrier. With the bigger seat, he is actually sitting up more, etc. He LOVED it to death. He was looking out the window the whole ride to my parents.
The other thing is, his feet are only a few inches from the back of the actual car seat - is this normal? He is a tall baby - has been in the 96-98 percentile everytime he is measured. He wont be able to turn around in the seat for at least 3 months (he is only 9 months) so I hope he doesnt grow that much (plus I want to keep him rear facing for as long as possible since that is the safest)

Re: Convertible car seat question
Britax has a video instruction on their website so you can see exactly how it's supposed to be

Re: Convertible car seat question
We have the same car seat and found the same issue. We realized we didnt have the seat reclined. Once we did that it was better. It is a very different in comparison to the bucket seat. I also needed the window shade, which I didnt use before.

Re: Convertible car seat question
DS is also in the 90th percentile and we turned it around at 15 months. We did have the seat reclined, but even so his feet were lopped up the backseat and he had started to whine and really fight getting in the carseat. Minute we turned it around, he liked being in the car again.
So you should be okay for several months I would think.

Re: Convertible car seat question
I went to the police station to have it inspected just to be sure.
And you should really consider keeping him rear facing beyond 1 year. There have been many posts on this. The American Academy of Pediatrics now recommends they stay rear facing for 2 years.
Here is an old thread where I posted several links to articles on this topic: Link

Re: Convertible car seat question
There are several things you need to look at with theinstallation of a Britax. First, make sure you did recline the seat. There is a red line on the side that is used to check th eproper angle. The red line should be parrallell to the ground.
Next, did you rear-teather the seat. This is an additional part to rear-facing installation. However, rear teathering does not pull the seat back to the proper angle.
Lastly, many children will have their feet touching, this is not a primary concern. Short of their legs pretzled up, we are not concerned about bent legs or touching. The longer you keep a child rear-facing the safer he/she is.
Keep a child rear-facing as long as possible - 15 to 18 months minimum.
