Is he from DR? Love the different names we all have for the same foods, like what Dominicans/Puerto Ricans call tostones, we call them patacones. I think the only food that has kept the same name across all Latin countries is empanadas! Chat Icon

my household is cuban, dominican, puerto rican - and i grew up in southern california with a large mexican influence.

there are so many different names for the same thing. i'm constantly saying, "i believe your people call it..." lol

now, i'm hungry for some good food. i think i'm going to hit a local cuban joint after work.

That's how I cook rice too. I sauté a finely diced onion in a few tablespoons of salted butter until it's softened and slightly browned. Then I add the rice, chicken stock (it has more flavor than broth), Kosher salt, black pepper and parsley and simmer until the stock is absorbed and the rice is tender. It's really easy and flavorful and goes well with most every meal. Chat Icon
